Housing

ACFN's housing department handles all issues related to housing. ACFN has a Housing Committee consisting of ACFN members who reside in Fort Chipewyan. The Housing Committee reviews applications for member housing, and determines the applicants eligibility based on need. The Housing Committee also assists in the development and review of ACFN's Housing Policy.

Housing Applications

Members requiring service or repairs for ACFN housing, please complete the service request form.

 

Important: Members must reside in Fort Chipewyan for a minimum of 6 months prior to applying. There is a wait list for housing and assignments are based on need/emergency situations and date of application.

Important Information for Members

Homeowner Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program — Homeowner RRAP offers financial assistance to low-income households who own and occupy substandard housing to enable them to repair their dwellings to a minimum level of health and safety.​

Currently, mold is a serious problem plaguing First Nation housing. Excessive moisture in the air can lead to the development of mold which has been linked to respiratory problems for home occupants.  CMHC provides useful information about humidity and moisture problems and outlines a number of different solutions to ensure satisfactory humidity levels in the home.
